Rising star conductor Miguel Harth-Bedoya and young German pianist Markus Groh team up for an exciting program of unforgettable music. Between two of Ravel’s best-loved depictions of Spanish life and art, you’ll hear music from Silvestre Revueltas’s passionate film score Night of the Mayas — evoking an epic story of dreams and legends, rhythms and celebration in Mexico’s Yucatán. Groh then takes the stage for Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1, a work designed to showcase the composer’s legendary virtuosity as a pianist.

Wow, I saw the link from the Telegraph to watch a video and I couldn’t believe it. Here’s a little bit from the piece:

Founded in 1998, the 11-strong group carve their produce before every show, using celeriac bongos, carrot recorders and the multi-vegetable ‘cucumberphone’ to play everything from contemporary to house, jazz to classical.

They perform 20-30 times throughout the year. Definitely need to check this out for myself. Truly amazing how many notes they can hit with those carrots!
